Forging Swords deep in the mines. Students may have wanted to turn back once they began their journey in forging their own swords using foam core, x-acto knives, and masking tape. However they kept going and got quite far. Tomorrow we will finish them and add color! “Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit Students also worked on finishing up projects from yesterday. Some painted their sculptures, created more, or worked on scrolls. The templates for making the swords were found online HERE. Once you have the experience of creating a sword like this out of foam board it will be even easier to come up with your own designs to build and craft. |
