Snape
with a
favored
Slytherin
student.
Normally
people
don't look
this happy
around him.

Advanced Potions, Quidditch, the House Cup and Leaving Feast...

Professor Snape visited and quizzed the students to see how much they knew about the various potions and their ingredients. The Slytherins excelled, but much to Snape's dismay the Gryffindors had won the chance earlier in the week to go first for potion making. Everyone had a chance brew up some interesting mixtures of their own.

Quidditch Practice! Students from every house gathered to try their hand at quidditch. Each team had a keeper, a handful of beaters and chasers, and three seekers. The quaffle was handled by chasers and the beaters threw small leather balls at them as a distraction. Keepers did their best to stop the quaffle but each team scored 40 points. (4 goals at 10 points each). Finally the snitches were released. They ran and ran and after strong suggestion by Madam Hooch that the game couldn't go on forever were caught.

Seekers worked hard to catch the snitches. The snitches rested hard during a time out.

Final Quidditch Score:
140 to 40.
Next year we will try a tournament!
The Sorceror's Stone in Danger!
While students were enjoying quidditch Professor Quirrell was making his way through the trap door and beneath the school to find the sorceror's stone.
Three students from each house had a chance to stop him. Each house went seperately and was timed.

1. Get Past Fluffy to go through the trap door
Students quickly figured out they needed to put Fluffy to sleep with music. Some sang, whistled, and one even played his i-pod!

2. Through the Devil's Snare
Struggling and panic only makes it worse. They carefully made their way through.
3. The Flying Keys
Images of flying keys were hung up. Once found they had a clue on the back that would help unlock the trunk.

4. The Chess Set
Once trunk was opened with the correct flying key students found a chess set inside. In order to proceed students had to correctly set it up.
5. The Potions Riddle
A riddle had to be solved in order to figure out which potion needed to be drank to let them pass to the next task. One potion was correct the others held other things, like poison (salt water).
Incorrect guesses resulting in 30 sec penalties.

6. Stop Quirrell!
Quirrel had to be caught in order for the stone to be saved. Three streamers hung from his shoulders. They had to be pulled off to end the challenge.

Gryffindor Wins House Cup!

For a first time in years Gryffindor wins the house cup.
Well done Gryffindor, well done.
Last year Hufflepuff won and in 2013 it was Slytherin.
The places this year were as follows:
1. Gryffindor
2. Hufflepuff
3. Ravenclaw
4. Slytherin
But lets remember the sorting hats advice and to not let the houses we are in divide us. It was just for fun!

The End of Term Leaving Feast
Thank you to all of those who brought in the delicious sweets and goodies, many of which were Harry Potter themed. Well done! It gave the house elves a break for the day.

Mischief Managed! This was another great year...next year's story line will be book 2.
