Harry could’ve easily been sorted into Slytherin. The sorting hat reminds him of this in Chamber of Secrets. But Harry made a choice not to be which the hat took into consideration. Dumbledores says: "It is our choices Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." If you are re-reading the books keep this in the back of your mind and be aware of how such little choices made by many characters affect the outcome of the story. What choices in your life have defined who you are?
